Business Operations Manager (For independent contractors)
Job Summary
The Business Operations Manager serves as a strategic architect and hands-on operating partner within the CBO Office. In this high-impact role, you act as the "connective tissue" between strategy and execution - ensuring the company operates efficiently, scales effectively, and makes decisions grounded in data.
You are responsible for shaping, building and scaling key elements of the enterprise operating system - orchestrating the translation of strategy into execution so both remain tightly aligned. This includes designing and/or implementing the frameworks that enable the organization to operate with greater agility, predictability, and future readiness.
As a strategic thinker and operator, you move beyond process management to lead and deliver the most complex transformations across the organization.
In this role, you are expected to both define - or, depending on start date, pick up and refine - the ‘new’ quarterly planning cycle vision and design, and actively drive its execution ensuring concepts are not only well-structured but fully realized in practice.
Ultimately, you are a Change Catalyst. Whether leading a structural shift or a technological adoption, you model a growth mindset, ensuring our "ways of working" are as innovative as the products we build. You are a master of influence, navigating the complexities of a global organization to build lasting connections and drive a culture of "Winning Together."
Key Responsibilities include:
Lead enterprise planning cycles: Design, run, and continuously improve a connected planning system linking quarterly planning with annual strategy and Agile delivery.
Ensure alignment between long-term objectives and near-term execution, with primary focus on operating and evolving the quarterly planning cycle. Provide thought leadership on improving planning effectiveness, clarity, and speed.
Develop and maintain rolling roadmaps: Own 12–18 month cross-company roadmaps for complex, interdependent programs, keeping them updated based on changing priorities, dependencies, and data-driven insights to support decision-making.
Drive cross-functional alignment in a matrix organization: Partner with senior leaders across Product, Technology, Finance, Program Management, and Business Operations to align on priorities, dependencies, and trade-offs, and help resolve competing needs.
Translate strategy into execution frameworks: Support the conversion of strategic priorities into execution plans, operating rhythms, and decision frameworks that enable consistent delivery at scale.
Enable data-informed decision making: Support prioritization and trade-offs using operational metrics, scenario analysis, and insights embedded into planning and execution discussions.
This role requires a rare combination of strategic thinking and hands-on operational execution, with the ability to move seamlessly between designing systems and driving outcomes in a fast- moving, complex environment.
Knowledge and Skills
Education Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
8–10+ years of experience in complex, matrixed software/digital product/technology environments, ideally in high-growth organizations, with a proven track record of driving large-scale digital or operational transformation.
Strong experience in enterprise or large business unit planning, including rolling roadmaps and quarterly and annual financial, operational, and strategic planning processes (must have).
Hands-on experience with Jira or similar work management and planning tools (must have).
Experience must include operating within embedded product/tech organizations; purely standalone operations or consultancy-only backgrounds are not sufficient.
Strong strategic thinker with the ability to connect disparate data points and organizational perspectives into a clear, cohesive view.
Skilled at identifying systemic challenges and opportunities and translating them into actionable recommendations and follow- through to drive meaningful change.
Expert ability to take "messy," highly complex organizational problems and break them down into structured, actionable, simple, and easy-to- understand strategic solutions.
Ability to envision and design scalable, reliable "Business Operating Systems." You move beyond basic project management to build automated tools and resources that optimize the customer experience and meet evolving internal expectations.
Strong understanding of how AI, No-Code/Low-Code, and data automation can be applied to business operations to increase velocity.
Advanced ability to use both quantitative and qualitative data to tell a story, forecast trends, and recommend bold strategic moves.
Extensive experience in change management methodologies, acting as a high-level change agent. You don't just manage a transition; you model a "growth mindset," explicitly communicating the financial and operational ROI of change to help diverse teams embrace new technological paradigms.
Strong executive influence and leadership presence, with the ability to simplify complex topics into clear, actionable direction. Confident operating at (S)VP level and acting as a trusted strategic advisor to the Director of Business Operations.
A role model of the "Winning Together" mindset. You build and maintain high-trust, lasting relationships across diverse global teams, ensuring the organization remains connected and aligned.
Highly structured and organized, ensuring that despite high complexity and rapid innovation, all core business rhythms and governance structures run smoothly and predictably.
