Business Operations Manager (For independent contractors)
Job Summary
The Business Operations Manager drives processes and implements structure to ensure goal achievement and to help the department’s Leadership in making effective decisions. They are responsible for coordinating the execution of the day-to-day operations of a business (organization, department, area, function) to ensure that it runs effectively and efficiently.
This role supports the Product & Technology organization, and therefore requires a strong understanding of product development practices to effectively bridge business operations with cross-functional development teams (product, technology, design and data).
The Business Operations Manager designs and implements an effective rhythm of business both within the department and cross departments to achieve the shared objectives and mitigate key dependencies. The Business Operations Manager will partner with the different teams in the Department to ensure the right tracking of the key initiatives deliverables and KPIs within the departments. Also they will drive the adoption of Company wide processes within their department (eg. Quarter Operational Reviews, Strategic Portfolio Management tracking, Planning and Budget, etc).
They also lead all the yearly planning activities, as well as the execution of the planned activities after budget submission. They will also make sure that the key dependencies between departments as results of the yearly planning will be correctly identified and properly followed up.
They will also support workforce management activities, providing regular updates and reporting to leadership. Additionally, this role will drive continuous improvement initiatives — such as refining governance models, establishing new ways of working, or facilitating alignment sessions — based on leadership needs and organizational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Business Rhythm & Cadence
Own the preparation, facilitation, and follow-up of business cadences (monthly business reviews, financial and workforce reviews, quarterly planning, and leadership team meetings).
Ensure actions and decisions are tracked, communicated, and delivered across stakeholders.
Annual Planning
Lead the annual planning process, translating company strategy into function-level objectives, success metrics, and actionable operational plans.
Ensure cross-departmental alignment on priorities, dependencies, and resource planning.
Workforce Management
Lead workforce management activities, including capacity tracking and reporting in collaboration with FP&A, HR and Recruitment
Provide regular updates to leadership on workforce insights, headcount movements, and resourcing trends to support strategic planning.
Stakeholder management
Effectively collaborate with various teams, departments, and stakeholders.
Acts as a central point of contact, streamlining processes, fostering teamwork, and driving operational efficiency.
Ability to influence up to Director level and productively interact with Sr. Director level
Process Excellence
Support design and/or execute thoughtful, yet simple, processes to increase efficiency and productivity.
Drive the optimization of business operations by driving adoption of standardized processes across the department to increase efficiency and effectiveness while also simplifying where possible
Craft methodology and standards
Apply a structured, data-informed methodology to establish efficient ways of running business-as-usual operations, enabling teams to work more effectively and achieve their objectives
Facilitate the scoping, design, and execution of core processes and key initiatives that support both business operations and organizational goals.
Bring a strong understanding of product development practices to bridge business operations with product and technology teams.
Demonstrate the ability to work with Jira (including Oboard) for process management, tracking, and reporting.
