Data Analyst (For independent contractors)
Role Description
The Decision Intelligence team is seeking a Data Analyst II with a strong analytics engineering foundation and advanced data visualization skills to support scalable reporting and automation. The team’s mission is to enable high-quality, decision-ready insights by transforming complex data into robust reporting assets that are trusted, automated, and easy to consume by senior stakeholders.
This role will focus primarily on the ownership, automation, and continuous improvement of recurring reporting and dashboards. You will work closely with business stakeholders to translate reporting needs into well-structured data models and compelling Tableau visualizations, ensuring consistency of metrics and clarity of narrative. While the role is reporting-centric, it also requires strong analytical judgment and an engineering mindset to improve data reliability, performance, and maintainability.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
Own and maintain recurring reporting and dashboards, with a strong focus on automation, scalability, and robustness
Own reporting solutions end-to-end, from clarifying ambiguous business questions through implementation, validation, and ongoing iteration
Design and develop curated data models and datasets to support self-service and standardized reporting
Build clear, compelling Tableau dashboards that effectively communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders
Partner with business and analytics stakeholders to define reporting requirements, align on metric definitions, and improve data usability
Ensure reporting outputs are decision-ready by clearly highlighting key takeaways, risks, and implications for leadership (“so what”)
Continuously identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes and reduce manual effort
Take accountability for data quality and metric consistency, including validating results and proactively surfacing data issues
Support ad-hoc analytical requests and exploratory analyses as needed, aligned with team priorities
Independently manage relationships with junior to mid-level stakeholders, including setting expectations, prioritizing requests, and pushing back when needed
Qualifications & Skills
Solid experience in a Data Analyst or Analytics Engineering role (DA II or equivalent)
Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets
Proven expertise in data visualization and storytelling, particularly using Tableau
Analytics engineering mindset: comfort with data modeling, metric standardization, automation, and maintainability
Strong business acumen with the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear analytical outputs
Ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
Experience working in a centralized or non-embedded analytics team with shifting priorities
Experience working with version-controlled analytics workflows and production-grade reporting pipelines is a plus
Experience & Profile
3–5+ years of experience in data analysis, analytics engineering, or business intelligence roles
Demonstrated ability to own reporting solutions end-to-end, from problem framing to delivery
Strong judgment in balancing speed, quality, and scalability
Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and translating data into decision-ready narratives
Strong collaboration skills and openness to feedback
