Booking.com is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our Central Technology team in the Netherlands. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of our AWS public cloud network and security infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity for network engineers looking to contribute to an ambitious, rapidly growing business and help define the future of our public cloud connectivity and security.



Key Responsibilities



  • Ensure the reliability, security and availability of Booking.com’s public cloud network infrastructure.


  • Operate, maintain, and improve large-scale network infrastructure spanning multiple public cloud vendors and regions.


  • Automate network provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring through robust scripting and tooling (preferably Python and Terraform).


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot networking solutions supporting public cloud environments.


  • Monitor and optimize network performance, proactively address issues and minimize downtime.


  • Work with multi-vendor environments, coordinating incident management and resolution.


  • Engage with vendors and partners for network support and escalations when necessary.




Required Experience and Qualifications



  • Strong knowledge of networking in routing & switching (BGP), TCP/IP stack;


  • Solid hands-on experience with AWS Network resources (Transit Gateways, VPCs, Subnets, Route Tables, NAT Gateways, Internet Gateways, Gateway Load Balancers, VPNs, Direct Connects, etc);


  • Solid experience in network security, deployment and network management of firewalls in public cloud environments like AWS (preferably with Palo Alto)


  • Experience in network automation using programming languages like python and terraform (3+ years);


  • Familiarity with multi-vendor network environments and associated challenges.


  • Familiarity with Internet architectures, Internet security (RPKI, IRR), peering at global exchange points;


  • Demonstrated skills in incident response and vendor management.
