Network Engineer (For independent contractors)
Please note, this is a 6-month assignment for freelancers, and 1-2 days in the office per week are required.
The pay rate is 55-105 EUR/hour.
Network Engineer does network planning, capacity and performance management, makes production systems and network infrastructure secure.
They have knowledge to review and verify performance of network infrastructure by continuously monitoring appropriate observability metrics, business KPIs and capacity planning.
They find solutions to develop business critical networks & systems, provide more reliable and effective support as the business grows.
Network Engineer has sufficient knowledge in switching, routing, and TCP/IP to support and enhance network infrastructure.
Overview of the role and responsibilities:
The engineer will be positioned in Edge and Core Network which handles our private and public cloud network.
The engineer will help the team to operate and improve heavily our on-prem inter-dc mpls (dci), wan and internet edge network.
The engineer will work with telco and internet providers (ISPs) and make sure internet connectivity between our end customers and our internet resources (on-prem, AWS cloud-front) is operationally healthy.
Role will involve below work items:
Daily operations, such as troubleshooting connectivity issues,
Project deliveries, such as vendor migrations, device replacements, data center migrations, design changes,
Working with carriers for circuit capacity upgrades, incidents,
Customer requests, deploying operational requests.
Required skills:
Detailed knowledge and solid hands-in experience in networking in routing & switching, TCP/IP stack;
Detailed knowledge and solid hands-in experience in networking protocols BGP, ISIS, MPLS, IPv6, EVPN;
Experience in network automation using programming languages like python and terraform (3+ years)
Nice to have:
Solid hands-on experience with AWS Network resources (Transit Gateways, VPCs, Subnets, Route Tables, NAT Gateways, Internet Gateways, VPNs, Direct Connects, etc);
Deployed network infrastructure as code, using configuration management tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible);
Experience with Internet architectures, peering at global exchange points, RPKI implementations;
Experience with the design, implementation, operation and automation of large data center networks;
Experience with network security concepts firewalling, DDOS;
Experience with monitoring network quality, availability and performance;
Experience configuring Juniper/Cisco/Arista devices (CLI, Ansible);
Experience with engineering, configuration, and operation of MPLS networks is beneficial;
Experience with DWDM technology and devices is beneficial.
