The Project Manager is responsible for the governance and project management initiatives within the respective department.

The Project Manager role will partner with the various teams within the Department to support, and proactively work with them, to facilitate the work occurring between them and the business units and centralized functions.

They will help the teams to scope and plan the projects by helping to document the project goal, KPIs, roadmap and main deliverables.

he Project Manager will ensure that the projects of the respective department teams are managed in a consistent manner, whilst working with the business units & central functions within Booking.com to build engagement and where needed governance over decisions needed for work to be signed off.

In some cases, the role requires dealing with external vendors and managing external stakeholders.

The Project Manager will also help the different teams to mitigate the project risks and dependencies to make sure there is progress towards the project's milestones.

First and foremost, the Project Manager will ensure the team's roadmaps/plans focus on agreed business priorities, dependencies and strategies – designed based on data and business needs, and deliver against the shared objectives & goals.


Key Job Responsibilities and Duties



  • Apply structured methodology and lead project activities as part of a larger multi year program


  • Define clear project scopes, objectives, key performance indicators, and stakeholder roles, securing buy-in from all relevant parties prior to project initiation.


  • Create detailed project delivery plans, proactively identifying dependencies, resource needs, risks, and mitigation strategies.


  • Proactively identify and manage project risks, anticipating and quickly adjusting to unforeseen challenges, shifting priorities, or unexpected regulatory shifts.


  • Oversee and manage multiple, interdependent project tracks and deliverables simultaneously, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals and compliance deadlines.


  • Serve as the primary point of contact between various of Booking.com’s Fintech teams, technology, finance and other business stakeholders, tailoring communications to suit executive, technical, and operational audiences.


  • Set and manage expectations through clear, regular communication - using status reports, dashboards, and executive briefings to keep all stakeholders informed of progress, challenges, and changes.


  • Navigate highly matrixed stakeholder environments with diplomacy and confidence, bringing together cross-functional teams to deliver successful outcomes.


  • Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to translate medium complexity financial & payment process requirements into clear, actionable technical solutions and robust implementation plans.



Qualifications & Skills


  • Minimum Bachelor's degree, with a proven track record (3-5 years) managing and delivering medium to large, multi-disciplinary projects - ideally with global or multi-regional reach - in bespoke technology and ERP-driven organisations.


  • Practical knowledge and demonstrated delivery excellence in at least two project management frameworks (Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid models).


  • Comfortable working in a technical project environment


  • Past experience working in a Fintech environment, including payments processing / operations (bank transfer payments / other) beneficial


  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills - with a track record of identifying risks proactively and implementing creative mitigation strategies.


  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, equally effective when presenting to director level executives or collaborating with technical team members.


  • Project management certification strongly preferred (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile Certified Practitioner, or equivalent).


  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations and under pressure


  • With limited supervision, ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to drive decision making
