As a Senior Accountant working on FinTech Projects you will join our Global Accounting Team in our office in Amsterdam, specifically Payments Accounting. In this role, you'll represent Accounting in the discovery, design, implementation, and testing of impactful business initiatives where Booking.com manages funds flow between customers and partners. The primary focus of this role will be supporting projects aimed at bringing innovative products and services to market or expanding existing offerings. These initiatives often involve the complete end-to-end fund flow facilitated by Booking.com, from Pay-in to Payout. Reporting to the Controller, you’ll collaborate closely with teams in our Amsterdam and Bangalore offices. This role is dynamic and may evolve over time, offering opportunities for growth and new challenges. B.Responsible:



  • Act as a trusted and influential business partner to our internal and external stakeholders, driving projects with cross-functional collaboration and significant business impact.


  • Lead and own the design, implementation, and testing of large-scale business initiatives from an accounting perspective, ensuring a focus on long-term scalability.


  • Actively collaborate with stakeholders to define, align, and communicate accounting, reporting, and process requirements. Ensure new initiatives are supported by accurate and complete reporting, robust controls, and compliance standards that are implemented and maintained effectively.


  • Attend and lead project-related meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Prepare comprehensive documentation for processes, data, fund flows, and related instructions to support clarity and consistency.


  • Collaborate closely with Data Analytics and Business Intelligence teams to design, implement, and test reporting solutions for new initiatives, ensuring their integration into the monthly closing process.


  • Address key accounting challenges as they arise, acting as a subject matter expert for the broader accounting team and supporting the Finance mission of achieving balance sheet and P&L excellence.


  • Oversee the monthly closing process for newly launched initiatives until they are fully transitioned to the operational month-end close team as part of standard operations.


  • Collaborate with external providers, including local accountants and auditors, to ensure compliance with all applicable local regulations.


  • Proactively identify, scope, and support the implementation of operational process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.


  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment to collectively achieve department goals and drive success together.

B.Skilled:



  • Minimum 5 years of Accounting experience


  • Experience in projects and project management is required.


  • Experience working with Product, Data Analytics, Technical Accounting teams


  • Comfort working with big data in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment.


  • Being solution-oriented, self-motivated, and results-driven is essential.


  • Ability to grasp technical designs and simplify them into understandable concepts.


  • Bridges technical details and business perspectives to ensure alignment.


  • Proactive and resourceful self-starter with a strong work ethic, and a desire to grow.


  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven stakeholder management ability.


  • Takes ownership of responsibilities with a positive, independent, and inquisitive mindset.


  • Works independently and collaboratively with a strategic, "big picture" focus.


  • Familiarity with US GAAP and a strong understanding of month-end close procedures.


  • Strong proficiency in financial systems, with SAP S/4HANA experience preferred.


  • Fluent in both spoken and written English.



The payrate for independent contractors is 25-85 EUR/hr.
