Senior Data Engineer (For independent contractors)

The pay rate is 80-132 EUR/hour.

The Financial Systems team provides technology expertise to the finance department, and is responsible for SAP HANA and connected 3rd party systems at Booking.com. We want to change the way people work with SAP, by building a finance application platform that supports simplification of business processes, and empowers the finance community with better financial insights.

As a BI engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining reporting solutions. You will have a thorough understanding of SAP Hana and data integration and responsible for designing and implementing business requirements as well as data accuracy in reports. You will support the team in day-to-day SAP Hana development and support, monitoring the production environment, identifying and fixing issues, and improving system performance. As this role involves daily interaction with the finance department, it is essential that you have a good background in finance, and strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

B.Responsible:

• Development and support of BI environment in collaboration with finance stakeholders. Ongoing development and maintenance of SAP Hana reporting platform.

  
  

• Responsible for data loading, monitoring and system performance.

  
  

• Engage with users to understand their needs and develop/maintain application, logical and technical data architectures.

  
  

• Integration and implementation of changes.

  
  

• Training of key users.

B.Skilled:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.

  
  

• 7+ years of expertise in IT area.

  
  

• 5+ years of experience in implementation of SAP HANA.

  
  

• Implementation experience with SAP HANA 2.0 XSA is heavily preferred. Understanding of XS Advanced features and capabilities (HDI)

  
  

• Very strong experience with SQL Script, Stored Procedures, Table Functions, designing tables, data loads, calculation views

  
  

• Optimization of Models, Understanding Plan Viz Performance tuning

  
  

• Familiar with SDA, SDI, SLT Concepts

  
  

• Understanding of CI/CD development practice and working with GIT in SAP Web IDE

  
  

• Exposure in XSA & DB Security concepts (Roles, Privileges etc)

  
  

• Comprehensive knowledge of XSOData, XSJS, SAPUI5, Gateway, Fiori application deployment is added advantage

  
  

• Knowledge of agile development processes (SCRUM or Kanban) and experience with Jira a plus

  
  

• Superior attention to detail and quality required

  
  

• Proven ability to adopt new technologies

  
  

• Demonstrated interest for researching new technologies and developing business cases to support stakeholders across the organization

  
  

• Ability to have good grasp of the detail and manage multiple priorities. Able to work in a quick turnaround environment.

• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

B.Qualified:

• Knowledge in NodeJS or/and JavaScript is a plus

  
  

• Experience in implementation of SAP BW or SAP BW/4HANA and knowledge of SAP ABAP is a plus.

  
  

• Functional knowledge of SAP ECC as a data source (GL, AR, AP, HR etc.)

  
  

• Experience with Tableau is a plus.

  
  

• Experience / knowledge of best-practice data on complex data migration projects
