Role Overview

The Car Rental group helps craft a key part of the ground transportation experience for Booking.com. This 6-month contract role provides design capacity for the Grow & Connect area of Cars, supporting up to 3 product teams delivering on their H1 2027 roadmap.

You'll work across multiple product initiatives that connect the traveller journey across the Booking.com ecosystem - from integrations with new tools and technologies, to landing page experiences, to partnerships with external platforms. You'll collaborate closely with the Trips & Accommodation Business Unit and commercial partners to ensure travellers receive a joined-up experience no matter where they book.

What you'll do:

In your first 2–3 weeks, you'll work with Mike Forsyth (GPM) and the product teams to define design priorities and understand the current state. You'll then own design delivery across the initiatives working to help travelers find and add the right method for them to get around by ground transport that is most suitable for their trip.

  • Collaborate simultaneously with at least 2 product teams, so strong async communication and clarity are essential.

  • Run research and testing to validate design decisions; present findings to product, engineering and commercial stakeholders.

  • Create high-quality design assets, prototypes and documentation.

  • Advocate for user needs and design quality alongside business metrics.

  • Apply Booking's design systems, brand standards and accessibility principles consistently.

Who you are:

  • Experienced designer (comfortable working autonomously and at pace on a contract role).

  • Strong communicator and collaborator—equally comfortable with designers, PMs, engineers and commercial partners.

  • Confident in running research, testing and presenting to diverse stakeholders.

  • Proactive stakeholder manager, especially with senior product and cross business unit leaders.

  • Familiarity with travel/booking domain preferred (but not required—you learn fast).

  • Comfortable with Figma, prototyping tools, and modern design practices (including Claude and Figma AI features).
