Senior Program Manager (For independent contractors)
Senior Program Manager — ACE
We are looking for a Senior Program Manager to support the Tax Tech Acceleration program at the intersection of Finance, Tax, and Technology. This is a senior individual contributor role with organisational influence well beyond the projects themselves —. Solid experience within Finance + Technology is a must; deep familiarity with Tax technology implementation or large cross functional implementation is a strong differentiator.
The Role
As Senior Program Manager, you will participate in the Tax Tech Acceleration program, an initiative that spans multiple departments, involves significant technology + business change, and carries regulatory and compliance implications. You will work alongside senior leaders across Business Units, Financial Systems, Finance Product & Technology, Revenue Operations, Payments/PayOps, and Tax, operating as a trusted strategic partner rather than a coordinator.
Your mandate goes beyond day to day delivery. You will be expected to elevate the programme management maturity of the teams around you, help define ways of working and business as usual, and bring the kind of organisational clarity that allows large cross-functional initiatives to move with both speed and precision. You will be the person senior stakeholders turn to when complexity is highest and ambiguity is greatest.
If owning high-stakes programmes end-to-end, shaping organisational capability, and operating at the intersection of Finance strategy and execution is what drives you, this is your next move.
What You Will Own
Programme Leadership and Delivery
Take full end-to-end accountability for the delivery of the Tax Program (One of the 2 components of the Tax Tech Acceleration Portfolio, the other is the Tax Platform), leading a group of project managers responsible for Country activations.
Increase the programme maturity: scope, governance model, interdependency mapping, risk framework, success criteria, and stakeholder engagement strategy — aligned to both business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Drive programme execution with rigour and urgency, maintaining clear visibility of milestones, critical path, risks, issues, and dependencies across all workstreams, and making proactive interventions before problems escalate.
Lead change management strategy for programmes with significant organisational impact, ensuring that adoption is designed in from the start rather than bolted on at the end.
Organisational and Strategic Impact
Act as a senior thought partner to the Program leadership on prioritisation, portfolio sequencing, and delivery capacity — not just executing the roadmap but contributing to how it is shaped.
Define and continuously improve the programme management framework, templates, and governance standards used across the Program teams.
Identify structural and operational inefficiencies across compliance processes and lead improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies, not just flagging issues but owning their resolution.
Stakeholder Management and Influence
Engage and align senior stakeholders up to VP (heads of departments) and C-suite level with confidence, clarity, and authority — presenting complex programme status, risks, and strategic options in terms that enable executive decision-making.
Navigate conflicting priorities across stakeholder groups, finding durable solutions where others find deadlock, and maintaining momentum without sacrificing quality or compliance.
Represent the programme portfolio in senior governance forums including SteerCos, operating committees, and board-level reviews where required.
What You Bring
Experience and Track Record
12+ years of programme and project management experience with a demonstrable track record of owning and delivering large, complex, cross-functional programmes in a global organisation — not just managing workstreams within them.
Deep, hands-on experience in Finance/Tax technology implementation projects is essential. You understand the operational realities of financial operations /tax compliance, financial system implementation, and regulatory change programmes — not just their surface-level requirements.
Proven experience leading programmes that involve both Finance and Technology teams simultaneously, with a strong grasp of how IT delivery interacts with business process change.
Experience operating at senior individual contributor level in a fast-paced, matrix organisation where influence without authority is the norm.
Methodology and Tools
Expert-level command of multiple programme and project management methodologies — waterfall, agile, hybrid,— and the judgement to know which to apply, combine, or invent for a given context.
PMP, Prince2 Practitioner, or MSP certification is strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of change management frameworks and proven ability to embed change management into programme design from day one.
Leadership and Communication
Exceptional communicator and influencer — able to navigate ambiguity, synthesise complexity into clarity, and move senior stakeholders to decisions without over-engineering the message.
Natural coach and capability builder who raises the bar around them, not just within their own programmes.
Skilled negotiator who operates from a position of principle and finds win-win outcomes in high-stakes situations.
Highly organised and structured by instinct, with the analytical depth to diagnose root causes, and the pragmatism to act decisively under pressure and uncertainty.
