Senior SAP FI Specialist – Integration & Compliance (For contingent workers)
Senior SAP FI Specialist – Integration & Compliance (ISA‑M, SOX)
Role summary
You will design and deliver end‑to‑end SAP FI solutions with a strong emphasis on integration architecture, third‑party connectivity, and compliance. You will apply the Integration Solution Advisory Methodology (ISA‑M) to define integration strategy, patterns, and governance, and provide hands-on build and optimization in SAP FI. You will also embed SOX‑compliant processes and leverage risk and compliance tools (e.g., SOFY or equivalents, SAP GRC) to ensure robust controls. This role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders, IT, and external partners, and ownership from design to go‑live and hypercare.
Key responsibilities
End‑to‑end solution ownership: Plan, design, configure, test, cutover, and support SAP FI changes and projects, including compliance documentation and go‑live hypercare.
FI solution design: Configure core FI General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Asset Accounting, enterprise structure, ledgers/currencies, fiscal calendars, master data hierarchies, and banking (DME/EBS/BCM), aligning architecture with business outcomes.
FICA (Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable): Design high-volume receivables processes (business partner/contract account, posting areas, main/sub transactions), clearing, dunning/collections, interest/charges, payment and returns lots, event framework, and integration with CI/BRIM and payment providers.
Data and interface governance: Define canonical data models, mapping standards (FI‑GL, Business Partner, payments), error‑handling, observability (alerts, SLAs), and data quality controls.
Integration architecture (ISA‑M): Define the enterprise integration strategy, select integration styles/patterns (API, events, process, data), set guardrails and standards, and run ISA‑M advisory workshops.
Third‑party integrations: Design and implement resilient integrations with payment gateways, banks, tax engines, e‑invoicing networks, treasury, CRM, HRIS, procurement, and financial close tools with robust reconciliation and monitoring.
Controls, risk, and compliance: Embed SOX controls across R2R, O2C, P2P, Treasury; perform SoD analysis; drive access and process control using SOFY or comparable GRC platforms (e.g., SAP GRC); prepare audit evidence and remediation.
Stakeholder engagement: Lead explore/design workshops, translate complex designs to non‑technical stakeholders, and drive consensus‑based decisions.
Delivery excellence: Manage backlogs, ensure high‑quality documentation (BRD/FRD/FDD), lead SIT/UAT, and improve delivery methods and automation (CI/CD for integration artifacts).
Operations and support: Provide L2/L3 support, resolve incidents, tune performance, and improve straight‑through processing and integration stability.
Mandatory experience
SAP FI core configuration: GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting; enterprise structure; ledgers; currencies; segments; fiscal year variants; cost/profit center hierarchies; internal orders; chart of accounts; chart of depreciation.
S/4HANA Finance (and ECC) expertise: Ability to map and modernize processes in S/4HANA; experience with RISE with SAP (Private Cloud) and leading Explore workshops is a plus.
Banking and intercompany: End‑to‑end payment formats (DME), EBS/lockbox, BCM approvals; specialized intercompany flows.
Controlling and analytics: CO‑PA/profitability analysis, ACDOCA awareness, CDS/Fiori reporting; ability to link design choices to business insights.
Risk and compliance (SOX): ITGC alignment, SoD frameworks, change management, access reviews; practical experience with SOFY or comparable tools (SAP GRC Access Control/Process Control/Risk Management, ServiceNow/MetricStream/Soterion).
Observability and performance: Interface monitoring and alerting (SAP Cloud ALM/Solution Manager/Integration Suite Monitor/Splunk/ELK), resiliency and throughput tuning, error handling and reprocessing.
Good To Have
ISA‑M: Experience running advisory workshops, setting guardrails, and choosing integration patterns (API, events, process, data).
SAP integration tools: SAP Integration Suite (CPI), API Management, Event Mesh, PI/PO; exposure to Boomi, MuleSoft, or Kafka.
Interfaces and security: IDoc, BAPI/RFC, OData, REST/SOAP, OAuth2, API‑first and event‑driven designs, versioning/reuse.
Third‑party integrations: Payments, Banking, Tax (automated tax calculation), e-invoicing , financial close (BlackLine).
FICA/BRIM or high‑volume billing and convergence to FI‑GL.
Integration & Stakeholder Management
System Ecosystems: Excellent knowledge of integrating SAP FI with complex legacy systems and external digital interfaces.
Interface Logic: Solid understanding of data mapping across FI-GL, Business Partners, and payment gateways.
