Job Summary


The Strategy Manager - Fintech develops and owns strategy for key FinTech business topics, combining structured problem solving, data-driven analysis and clear recommendations to senior stakeholders. You will work across teams and functions to ensure the right strategic topics are prioritized, aligned and executed in line with FinTech strategy. This role may also lead complex, business-critical initiatives where strategy, investment cases and cross-functional delivery intersect.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop strategy and resolve strategic questions


  • Lead projects to solve complex, open-ended strategic challenges across FinTech topics and opportunities.


  • Scope well-structured workstreams, bringing clarity to ambiguous business and product questions.


  • Define problems and perform analytical tasks with rigor and objectivity.


  • Develop and align recommendations with senior stakeholders using crisp, data-driven narratives.


  • Identify focus areas, goals and business cases for new investments in partnership with Legal, Finance and other stakeholders.


  • Understand market, customer and business context


  • Assess the medium- to long-term strategic position of the FinTech topics you own.


  • Build and apply a strong understanding of the financial services and payments landscape, including implications and opportunities for Booking.com.


  • Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs, competition, regulation and technology change, and translate these into strategic implications.


  • Think customer first when identifying opportunities to improve the experience for both bookers and partners.


  • Shape new FinTech products and capabilities


  • Identify and shape new financial product opportunities that reduce financial friction in the travel experience.


  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate product development from ideation through investment approval and launch.


  • Apply a product mindset to identify opportunities and areas for improvement in FinTech products and capabilities.


  • Support commercial optimization through insights, analysis and advice grounded in internal and external data.


  • Operationalize strategy and support leadership decisions


  • Lead development of operational plans from strategic priorities and maintain a clear roadmap linked to execution.


  • Ensure objectives, KPIs and metrics are aligned to strategy and with relevant stakeholders.


  • Monitor strategic priorities and help drive course correction where needed.


  • Ensure leadership teams have high-quality materials and clear synthesis to make effective, impactful decisions.


Experience and Requirements


  • 7-10 years of experience in consulting and/or in-house strategy roles.


  • Strong experience solving complex, open-ended business problems using structured, data-driven analysis.


  • Solid understanding of financial services and / or payments, and the implications and opportunities for Booking.com.


  • Experience building business cases, opportunity sizing and strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders.


  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners in a matrixed environment.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics and support clear decision making.


  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and fast-changing environments, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
