About Us

At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core. And innovation is everywhere. But our company is more than datasets, lines of code or A/B tests. We’re the thrill of the first night in a new place. The excitement of the next morning. The friends you encounter. The journeys you take. The sights you see. And the memories you make. Through our products, partners and people, we make it easier for everyone to experience the world.

About our team

The Genius loyalty program is central to how Booking.com rewards travellers and builds lasting relationships with them. As the program continues to evolve, we are investing in new ways to deepen traveller value, strengthen long-term relationships, and create sustainable differentiation for Booking.com.

The Genius Platform team builds the shared technology foundations, services, and decisioning capabilities that power Genius across the whole of Booking.com. We enable customer-facing Genius teams to develop and operate compelling traveller experiences and benefits across devices without each team having to solve the same underlying problems independently.

We turn common program needs into reusable capabilities that can be adopted by teams across Booking.com. This reduces duplication and operational complexity, accelerates delivery, and helps ensure Genius experiences remain consistent, reliable, and scalable as the program evolves.

Role overview

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to join the Genius Platform team in Amsterdam and help shape and scale the technology on which Genius is built.

As a Technical Product Manager, you will be accountable for the strategy, roadmap, and business outcomes of a product area within the Genius Platform. You will translate traveller, business, and internal product-team needs into coherent technical capabilities that can be adopted by multiple customer-facing teams across Booking.com. The scope includes program enrollment, eligibility, benefit entitlements, redemption orchestration, decisioning, data and reporting.

This role requires a strong platform mindset. You will balance near-term delivery with the long-term need for reusable foundations, clear product and data contracts, dependable operations, and a low-friction integration experience. You will work closely with engineering managers and senior engineers on architecture and delivery, while partnering with customer-facing product teams, design, UX writing, research, data science, analytics, product marketing, legal, privacy, and other business stakeholders to ensure the platform creates measurable value for travellers and Booking.com.

This is an individual contributor role without people management responsibilities. You will lead through influence in a fast-moving, high-visibility environment and move comfortably between strategic product direction and detailed technical trade-offs.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Own the product strategy, roadmap, outcomes, and success metrics for your platform area, connecting technical investments to traveller, business, and customer-facing team outcomes.

  • Deeply understand the needs of travellers, the Genius program, and internal product teams; identify common needs and turn them into scalable platform capabilities.

  • Define clear product requirements and platform contracts across domain models, APIs, rules and configuration, workflows, events, data, and non-functional requirements.

  • Prioritize the highest-impact problems across customer value, platform leverage, technical complexity, delivery dependencies, privacy, governance, and operational risk.

  • Partner closely with engineering managers and technical leads to shape solutions, make pragmatic trade-offs, and sequence work across dependent systems and teams.

  • Establish a coherent approach to capabilities such as enrollment and eligibility, benefit configuration, entitlement realization and redemption orchestration.

  • Create a strong internal product experience through clear interfaces, documentation, onboarding, observability, support models, and migration paths that accelerate adoption.

  • Drive adoption with customer-facing Genius teams, gather qualitative and quantitative feedback, and iterate based on integration outcomes, operational performance, and customer impact.

  • Define and monitor metrics such as platform adoption, integration lead time, reuse, reliability, decision quality, operational effort, and contribution to program outcomes.

  • Ensure privacy, security, compliance, resilience, auditability, and responsible use of traveller data are designed into the platform from the outset.

  • Communicate product direction, progress, risks, dependencies, and decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.

Role Qualifications and Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in technical product management, or a related technical domain.

  • Demonstrated experience owning a technical platform, backend product, shared service, or complex domain capability used by multiple product teams.

  • Strong technical fluency across APIs, service-oriented and event-driven architectures, distributed systems, data contracts, orchestration, automation, observability, and non-functional requirements.

  • Strong product judgment in deciding what to standardize, what to make configurable, and where teams need flexibility, while balancing delivery speed with long-term platform health.

  • Experience translating ambiguous traveller and business problems into clear domain models, product requirements, milestones, and measurable outcomes.

  • Ability to collaborate with engineering at depth and engage credibly in discussions about architecture, interfaces, failure modes, scalability, latency, reliability, and technical debt.

  • Proven ability to drive adoption of shared capabilities and influence without authority in a complex, cross-functional environment.

  • Excellent communication skills with engineering, product, design, data, legal, privacy, business, and leadership audiences.

  • Customer-centric, systems-oriented thinking and the ability to connect detailed platform decisions to end-to-end traveller experiences.

  • Experience with loyalty, rewards, promotions, marketplaces, payments, or other rules-heavy domains is a plus.
