Please note, this is a 8-month assignment for freelancers, and 1-2 days in the office per week are required.

The pay rate is 60-105 EUR/hour.


We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to join the Payments Accounting Projects team to provide structure and predictability to our Accounting and Data Analytics teams as they work on various Fintech related projects and in bringing long term transformational projects to fruition. Throughout this you will function as a bidirectional translation layer between the business and technical disciplines, ensuring alignment between business expectations and technical feasibility.



You will own and lead cross-team complex technical programs either independently or co-leading with other technical program managers from other business units such as FinTech, Accommodation Business Unit, etc. You will be involved in improving end to end data management, transmission and reporting which is related (but not limited to) Accounting and pay-in/ pay-out processes. This will be achieved through defining, analyzing, and documenting requirements in order to identify the correct solution. As part of this role, you will also define scope objectives, analyze, evaluate, refine, and review processes of both your projects and your stakeholders to ensure the solution is scalable or practical for the problem at hand.



The Technical Program Manager will also collaborate with other (Technical) Program Managers and the Engineering Teams across Booking.com and serve as a strategic technical advisor for the Accounting team. The Technical Program Manager will be responsible for ensuring the overall system architecture for Accounting is fit-for-purpose.



B.Responsible


  • Collaborate with various teams across the business including product & engineering teams to enable the launch of new products, features and programs with a focus on accounting flows and financial reporting.


  • Participate in project discovery, gather & document business requirements, write detailed functional specifications and user acceptance testing specifications.


  • Ensure the technical design will deliver on the business requirements in an efficient and scalable manner.


  • Identify and drive resolution for dependencies and risks to delivery of accounting specifications, providing escalation management where necessary.


  • Provide program transparency through predictable, proactive reporting tailored to the appropriate audience (Senior LT, Engineering Teams, and stakeholders) so that service and business owners have clear visibility on initiatives.


  • Proactively identify ways to improve processes and capabilities to ensure we are compliant, efficient, and up to date.


  • Ensure projects are run and built inline with all applicable rules and regulations (ie SOX / business control framework, payments regulations, tax requirements, etc) through collaboration with relevant stakeholders.


  • Provide technical advice to Accounting teams to support system and application evaluations.


  • Enable continuous improvement in Accounting and Payments architecture in line with the development of company strategies, product roadmap and technological developments.


  • Build strong relationships within Global Accounting (operational BAU, project & data analytics teams); Financial Systems; the product teams within Fintech and the various business units (accommodation, flights, attractions).




B.Skilled


  • 5+ years relevant work experience, including technical project or program management experience


  • Computer Science / Engineering Bachelor’s degree or related technical field


  • Accounting & Payments knowledge is preferred


  • Experience with Jira is preferred


  • Experience with supporting technical decisions including collaborating closely with developers/engineering teams


  • Proven experience using a range of lean/agile project/programme management methods


  • Proven experience balancing multiple priorities and resolving ambiguity


  • Proven experience of stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management at all levels of an organization


  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation and influencing skills


  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently toward established goals


  • Experience and ability to understand multiple technologies
