UX Writer (For independent contractors)
Job description
UX Writers create clear, useful and consistent product experiences through content that helps people make decisions and complete tasks. They apply UX writing craft across user journeys, platforms and channels, working with product, design, research, engineering and other stakeholders. A UX Writer owns writing deliverables for their area, using user research, feedback and quantitative data to inform decisions and assess impact. In this contractor role in the Connected Trip Merchandising track, you will bring commercial awareness to content choices, balancing user needs with product goals and using evidence to improve outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Own UX writing deliverables for your product area, applying established writing principles and guidelines across short and longer-form content, user journeys, platforms and channels.
Understand the product context, user needs and commercial goals behind each request; shape content that supports user outcomes and contributes to product and business objectives.
Use qualitative research, user feedback and quantitative data to build hypotheses, explain content decisions and identify opportunities to improve the experience.
Plan, run and learn from copy experiments, partnering with product and more experienced UX Writers as needed; use results to iterate and measure impact.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, researchers, engineers, translators and fellow writers to deliver and implement content within agreed timelines.
Adapt voice, tone and messaging to different audiences and contexts; consider accessibility, localisation and technical constraints in proposed solutions.
Use internal content tools and workflows to deliver content, resolve implementation questions and maintain quality through to release.
Requirements of special knowledge/skills
Strong UX writing and editing skills, with experience creating clear, concise content for digital products across platforms and channels.
Ability to adapt voice, tone and messaging to different audiences and user needs, and to apply writing guidelines independently.
Experience using qualitative insights, user feedback and quantitative data to support content decisions, develop hypotheses and assess results.
Commercial awareness and an interest in how content choices can support user needs, product priorities and business outcomes.
Understanding of user journeys, product flows and the role content plays in helping people make decisions and complete tasks.
Collaborative communication skills; able to work proactively and independently while seeking input and keeping stakeholders aligned.
Ability to manage multiple deliverables, respond to changing priorities and deliver high-quality work within agreed timelines.
Familiarity with content management, experimentation and localisation tools or workflows is an advantage.
Fluent written and spoken English.
Nice to have: Experience using AI-powered content generation for short- to medium-form content, or writing prompts to guide content generation.
