Booking.com B.V. (the company behind Booking.com™, the market-leading online hotel reservation service in the world) is looking for a Business Continuity Senior Lead with experience across the Business Continuity life-cycle, specializing in building and contributing to the delivery of BCM programs from the ground up. The position will offer a high degree of visibility as we continue the journey of taking Business Continuity from theory to practice.



The Business Continuity Lead is considered a crucial role in the second line of defense of Booking.com in protection of their people, customers, partners and assets. The Business Continuity team falls within the wider Group Security and Resilience team, a dynamic, lean team requiring hands-on support in day to day safety and security operations and disaster recovery processes. The position is tasked with building Bookings’ resilience across the organization. The new Business Continuity Lead will be vital in translating BC strategy, policy, and planning to our stakeholders across the organization. You will be instrumental in leveraging the heightened awareness around resiliency to deliver a best-in-class BC program in a dynamic, challenging, and rewarding environment. This role will join the current BC team and help lay the foundational elements needed such as risk assessments, business impact assessments, BCM governance, and compliance.



This position requires a high degree of flexibility, independence, and the ability to problem-solve.


Key Responsibilities


  • Create and manage the introduction and initial implementation of Business Continuity across the business


  • Influence leadership and key teams throughout the business to support and invest in BC, ensuring a reliable and working ‘First line’


  • With little direction and working with key stakeholders, lead an enterprise Business Impact Analysis, Risk Assessments, to identify the key risks to operations, mapping critical functions, and prioritizing bespoke BC roll-out


  • Function as a point of contact for BC, creating strong formal and informal networks with cross-functional partners to drive engagement and program viability


  • Assist in delivering the Global Business Continuity Roadmap, ensuring it includes Operational Resilience, IT Disaster Recovery, and Global Crisis Response


  • Provide support and expertise across other workstreams focussed on incident management, crisis management and IT Disaster Recovery


  • Drive on-going review and improvement of the Business Continuity Management Program


  • Review and assess Key 3rd party & partner BC arrangements


  • Benchmark industry best practices and drive continuous improvement for the BC Program, deep-diving into data, processes, systems, and challenges


  • Enhance the maturity of the BC program to align with ISO 22301 and NIST requirements


  • Support periodic or ad hoc compliance and audit reviews


  • Conduct plan development, training, and exercise workshops with business units to raise business continuity awareness and preparedness for crisis or business disruptive events


  • Support incident/crisis management activities requiring periods of on-call rotation for the management or crisis out of hours


  • Support the development and delivery of crisis management trainings, ensuring the linking of business continuity strategies and plans to organizational response


  • Support BHFS requirements in relation to resilience and ensure their inclusion in program delivery


  • Challenges assumptions about “the way things are done”



Be skilled


  • 4+ years of experience developing business continuity programs and successfully executing implementation in complex, decentralized environments, ideally in the tech industry. IT Disaster Recovery (Information Technology focus) expertise highly desired


  • IT Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII), Business Continuity Institute (BCI), or other business continuity professional certification a plus


  • First-class project management, highly organized and focused on prioritization, planning, tracking, and coordination across teams with strong attention to detail in a fast-moving, high pressured environment


  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills, you must be able to positively influence decision making at all levels of the organization, including senior global leadership. Must be able to grow and foster strong relationships with employees across functions and geographic locations


  • Must be able to articulate the organizational, customer, business, technology benefits of Business Continuity to stakeholders in a manner that is meaningful to them


  • Familiarity in implementing/operating BC management systems (Riskonnect, Service Now, other.)


  • Excellent google suite, Microsoft office skills, and ease with adapting to new technology


  • Experience in crisis management and/ or technical major incident management (significant disruptions). Cyber security experience is a plus.


  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written to unique audiences), you must be able to guide and positively influence our stakeholders while building trust and cooperation
